After at Saturday morning trip to Hobbycraft to pick up some craft supplies with the boys, I came across a few items and decided to make this simple Home sign. Hobbycraft had a selection of different board shapes and wooden letters in all the alphabet, so you can create any word you like. I actually think these would make lovely door signs. At the back of the wooden board is a metal hook allowing you to hang it up easily.
To make this Home board you will need the Board, some Wooden letters, Cream or White spray paint from B&Q, some Silver or Gold metallic paint a paint brush and a glue gun. Hobbycraft do sell spray paint so you can buy everything from there, I had some spray paint left over from another project.
The board is a natural untreated finish and takes the spray paint very well, I applied a few coats and left to dry for a few hours.
Then I painted the letters in the metallic gold paint, these wooden letters absorb the paint really well so I applied a few coats.
Now the fun part, arrange the letters to suit you. I had a little play around to give you a few suggestions.
I decided on the last design, simple the glue the letters to the board.
I love how this low budget DIY project turned out and it has taken pride of place on a narrow shelf above my office desk.
