Decorative Wall Sconce

I went to my local hardware store – B&Q as I planned on doing some decorating over the summer holidays.  I was surprised to find sample off cuts of wood flooring panels of all colours for £2.  So I picked up this off white marble look off cut and created this simple summer DIY project.

For this project you will need the wooden panel, a small glass jar, a piece of leather or fabric, some ribbon and a decorative bead, a flower, glue gun and scissors.

Start off by cutting a small piece of leather large enough to cover around the bottle.

Thread your bead onto the ribbon and tie it around the neck of the bottle.

It should look something like this. I have added a bit of glue to the ribbon to keep it in place.

Lay the bottle onto the wood panel and place the leather on top.  I suggest placing the leather half way down the bottle as this acts as a good support.

Then glue one side of the leather to the wood, slightly tuck it under the bottle.

Pull the leather across tightly and glue the other side.  If you are worried that the bottle may slip out you can add a few dabs of glue onto the bottle to hold it in place.

…and there you have it, a really simple but effective DIY project.

You can also add string to the back to hang it onto the wall.
